New Delhi, September 24, 2025 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalized today between the Ministry of Labour & Employment and Zepto to enhance employment prospects and improve youth employability through the National Career Service (NCS) Portal. The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, at an event in New Delhi.
During his speech, Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the NCS platform’s role as a vital link between employers and job seekers. “With over 52 lakh registered employers and close to 7.5 crore job openings facilitated since its launch, NCS has become a comprehensive resource for all employment needs,” he stated. He further noted that integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced digital technologies into the NCS portal will soon allow job seekers to find roles aligned with their location and qualifications.
Welcoming the partnership with Zepto, Dr. Mandaviya underscored its potential to unlock new career paths for the youth while enabling Zepto to tap into a skilled workforce. Ms. Vandana Gurnani, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour & Employment, emphasized that this collaboration will accelerate efforts to formalize employment and expand social security coverage. She described NCS as a multifaceted platform offering job matching, career guidance, and skill development, adding, “This alliance will foster stable, high-quality job opportunities.”
Shri Kaivalya Vohra, Co-founder of Zepto, expressed pride in the partnership with the Ministry, stating, “Joining forces with the NCS portal is a key move toward building a skilled and inclusive workforce for the modern economy. Through this collaboration, we aim to offer thousands of gig and permanent positions, empowering young Indians and supporting national growth.”
The MoU with Zepto represents a significant stride in blending platform economy jobs with the government’s employment and training framework. Over the agreement’s term, Zepto will list 10,000 job openings, establishing a reliable stream of urban employment for young people, women, and first-time workers. The partnership also facilitates formalization and skill enhancement, connecting gig workers to e-Shram registration, social security programs, and future career safeguards.
This collaboration expands the Ministry’s initiative to link job seekers with platform-based opportunities, promoting dignified, technology-enabled livelihoods and integrating gig and quick-commerce roles into the formal job sector. In the past year, the Ministry has forged similar agreements with organizations like Amazon, Swiggy, Rapido, and Quikr Jobs, collectively generating nearly five lakh job listings on the NCS portal and bolstering youth employment prospects.
