CM Vijay Presents Prestigious Medals to Outstanding Personnel from Police, Prisons and Fire Services

Chennai, July 31, 2026: Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. S. Joseph Vijay, today conferred the Indian President’s Medals, Union Home Minister’s Medals and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Medals on officers and personnel who demonstrated exceptional service in the Police Department, Prisons and Correctional Services Department, and Fire and Rescue Services Department. The ceremony was held at Rajarathinam Stadium in Egmore, Chennai.

The event recognised the courage, dedication and professionalism of frontline personnel who have rendered outstanding service in maintaining law and order, ensuring prison security and rehabilitation, and responding to emergencies across the state. Recipients from the three departments received the prestigious national and state-level medals in the presence of senior officials, family members and colleagues.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Vijay praised the medal winners for their selfless commitment and said their work forms the backbone of public safety and security in Tamil Nadu. He underlined that such recognition not only honours individual excellence but also motivates the entire force to uphold the highest standards of service.

The Indian President’s Medals and Union Home Minister’s Medals are among the highest civilian and service distinctions awarded for gallantry, distinguished service and meritorious performance. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Medals further acknowledge exceptional contributions at the state level.

The solemn function at Rajarathinam Stadium reflected the government’s commitment to valuing the efforts of those who work tirelessly, often in challenging and high-risk conditions. Officials from the Police, Prisons and Correctional Services, and Fire and Rescue Services Departments were present in large numbers to witness the honouring of their colleagues.
