New Delhi, September 24, 2025 – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the tentative date sheets for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations scheduled for 2026, marking a significant step in streamlining academic planning for millions of students across India and abroad. Issued through a circular dated September 24, 2025 (F.31/CBSE/SPPS(2025)), the announcement comes as the board prepares for a landmark shift, including the introduction of two board exams per year for Class 10 starting in 2026, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
This tentative schedule covers main examinations for both classes, as well as supplementary exams for Class 12 and sports students. With approximately 45 lakh Class 10 students and Class 12 students expected to appear, the board aims to facilitate better preparation by providing early visibility into exam timelines. The final date sheets, including subject-specific details for major papers, will be issued upon submission of candidate lists by schools, likely in November 2025. Practical exams for winter-bound schools are slated for November-December 2025, while others will follow in January-February 2026.
