The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is gearing up to host the 13th International Tourism Mart (ITM) for the North Eastern Region from November 13 to 16, 2025, in the picturesque hill town of Gangtok, Sikkim. The event will be officially launched by Union Minister of Tourism and Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, alongside Sikkim Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu. The ceremony will also feature Tourism Ministers from other North Eastern states and high-ranking officials from both central and state tourism bodies.

This annual showcase, a flagship initiative by the Ministry, aims to spotlight the untapped tourism potential of the North East—often dubbed India’s “Eight Jewels”—to global and domestic audiences. The 2025 edition in Gangtok underscores the region’s stunning landscapes, diverse cultures, and thrilling adventure options, aligning with the Ministry’s focus on sustainable and inclusive tourism growth. By choosing Sikkim, a global leader in eco-conscious and responsible travel, the event reinforces efforts to establish the North East as a prime destination for nature, wellness, cultural exploration, and adrenaline-pumping activities, in line with the Travel for Life campaign.

Gangtok’s selection as the host city carries deep significance. Renowned for its unspoiled environment, organic agricultural practices, spiritual landmarks, and lively traditions, Sikkim embodies the principles of community-driven and environmentally friendly tourism that the Ministry champions nationwide.

The 13th ITM will attract a diverse international crowd, with delegates from around 19 nations, including Spain, Thailand, France, Russia, Germany, and Vietnam. Participants will include 39 overseas tour operators, 5 global influencers, 50 domestic buyers, 20 local influencers, travel media, and 91 domestic sellers. The agenda features technical workshops, expert panels, product showcases, and B2B networking sessions, focusing on themes like film tourism, homestays, youth business ventures, digital advancements, sustainability, and outdoor adventures.

Cultural performances highlighting the North East’s rich artistic heritage will complement the program, alongside guided tours to iconic sites like Rumtek Monastery, Do Drul Chorten, and Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. Showcases will explore niche areas such as wildlife tours, river cruises, festivals, heritage crafts, local cuisine, and thrilling escapades. Post-event familiarization trips will allow attendees to explore other North Eastern gems, offering a firsthand taste of the region’s cultural and natural splendor.

The 13th International Tourism Mart in Gangtok not only celebrates the North East’s breathtaking diversity and scenic beauty but also solidifies the government’s ambition to elevate the region into a world-class tourism hotspot. With its tranquil vistas, vibrant communities, and dedication to sustainability, Sikkim serves as an ideal stage for this event, embodying the essence of unity in diversity and the potential of eco-sensitive tourism development.
