National Lok Adalat 2025: Opportunity to Clear Traffic Challans Across India

Estimated read time 1 min read

Today marks a pivotal day for millions of Indian motorists as the National Lok Adalat 2025 kicks off, offering a chance to resolve pending traffic e-challans and other minor disputes without court hassles. Organized by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the event covers cases like speeding fines, red-light violations, and parking tickets. Eligible challans from the last five years can be settled at discounted rates, with full waivers for first-time offenders in some states. Courts in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai are equipped for on-the-spot resolutions, potentially clearing over 10 million cases nationwide. The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, aims to reduce judicial backlog and promote road safety awareness. In Uttar Pradesh alone, over 2 lakh challans are expected to be addressed, easing the burden on the e-challan portal. This comes amid rising vehicle registrations, with India crossing 350 million vehicles, highlighting the need for efficient dispute resolution to curb traffic violations.

Message from Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, NALSA, for the 3rd National Lok Adalat of 2025 to be held on Saturday, 13th September, 2025.
