The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to install Project Information Sign Boards featuring ‘Quick Response (QR) Codes’ along National Highway sections to deliver detailed project-related data and emergency contact numbers to highway travelers, promoting greater transparency and convenience.
These upright QR Code Sign Boards will offer specifics such as the National Highway number, chainage, project length, construction or maintenance timelines, and contact details for Highway Patrol, Toll Manager, Project Manager, Resident Engineer, the Emergency Helpline 1033, and NHAI field offices. Additionally, they will include information on nearby amenities like hospitals, fuel stations, restrooms, police stations, eateries, distance to toll plazas, truck lay-byes, tire repair shops, and vehicle service centers or e-Charging Stations.
For better visibility, the QR Code signages will be strategically located near wayside amenities, rest stops, toll booths, truck lay-byes, highway start/end points, and other key signposts to assist highway users effectively.
Beyond furnishing targeted information about National Highway sections and increasing openness, these QR code sign boards will significantly improve road safety by providing easy access to emergency and local resources. They will also greatly enhance the overall travel experience and awareness of National Highways nationwide
