As part of Seva Parv 2025, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) launched Khadi Mahotsav 2025 across India from September 17 to October 23, aiming to spread the ethos of “Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar-Ghar Swadeshi” to every home.
On September 17, KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar kicked off the festivities in Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Subsequently, on September 18 and 19, KVIC’s Central Office in Mumbai hosted a range of events to promote Swadeshi, cleanliness, and self-reliance with active public participation.
On September 18, a significant Cleanliness Drive-05 took place at Juhu Beach, Mumbai, led by Shri Manoj Kumar. He inspired KVIC officials, staff, and local residents to contribute to a cleaner, greener India with the message, “Serve the Nation through Cleanliness.” Hundreds participated enthusiastically in the initiative.

On September 19, the Chairman honored students, employees, and officials who excelled in various competitions with certificates and awards. In his address, Shri Manoj Kumar emphasized that under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, KVIC is advancing the Swadeshi Revolution with the motto “Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar-Ghar Swadeshi.” He echoed the Prime Minister’s vision—“Seva hi Sankalp, Rashtra Pratham hi Prerna” (Service is our resolve, Nation First is our inspiration)—and highlighted KVIC’s dedication to national service. He noted that Khadi, once overshadowed by global brands, has become a symbol of pride and the cornerstone of Atmanirbhar Bharat, as envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi.
Shri Manoj Kumar further elaborated that Khadi now embodies the spirit of “Har Ghar Swadeshi” by uniting village artisans from agriculture to apparel. Over the past 11 years, Khadi’s business has surpassed ₹1.70 lakh crore, establishing KVIC as a vital supporter of cottage industries under the Prime Minister’s guidance. Quoting the Prime Minister—“We may face challenges, but we will build a self-reliant India”—he reaffirmed KVIC’s commitment to elevating Swadeshi globally.

Ms. Roop Rashi, KVIC’s Chief Executive Officer, highlighted that initiatives like Seva Parv and GST benefits are helping the youth embrace the values of Khadi and Swadeshi. She described Khadi as more than a fabric—a testament to artisans’ hard work and collective support, symbolizing self-reliance and cultural heritage. She encouraged every child to become a Khadi ambassador.

During Khadi Mahotsav, Mumbai’s Central Office staff and officers, dressed in traditional Khadi, took a pledge to uphold Swadeshi and embraced the Vocal for Local spirit. They participated in a Khadi Yatra and a lively Swadeshi Rangoli competition, showcasing their enthusiasm and commitment.
