INS Trikand Strengthens Ties with Cyprus During Mediterranean Visit

Limassol, Cyprus, September 24, 2025 – On September 21, 2025, the Indian Navy’s stealth frigate, INS Trikand, docked at Limassol, Cyprus, as part of its ongoing deployment in the Mediterranean Sea. The vessel, commanded by Captain Sachin Kulkarni, marked its arrival with a series of diplomatic and cultural engagements aimed at enhancing bilateral relations.

Upon docking, Captain Kulkarni paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Manish, India’s High Commissioner to Cyprus, and Commodore Minas Solomonides, Commander of the Cyprus Navy. These meetings underscored the intent to deepen defense and maritime collaboration between the two nations. Over the course of the port call, the crew participated in professional exchanges, including joint training exercises, and hosted a yoga session onboard, reflecting India’s cultural outreach. The ship was also opened to the public on September 23, 2025, allowing local residents and visitors to explore its advanced capabilities and learn about the Indian Navy’s operations.

This visit, spanning several days, is poised to reinforce maritime security partnerships and support capacity-building efforts between India and Cyprus.
