On September 23, 2025, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, launched the logo and brochure for the Global Food Regulators Summit (GFRS) 2025 at Nirman Bhawan. Organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the summit is scheduled for September 26-27 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, in conjunction with the World Food India 2025 event hosted by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI).
In his keynote speech, the Union Health Minister emphasized the theme of GFRS 2025, “Evolving Food Systems – Yatha Annam Tatha Manah,” which underscores the deep link between food quality and the well-being of mind and society. “Food goes beyond sustenance; it influences physical health, mental clarity, emotional stability, and societal balance,” he remarked.

Shri Nadda praised the critical contributions of FSSAI and the Ministry in enhancing food safety standards in India and supporting global advancements in this field. He stressed the need for a comprehensive approach to ensure food safety, urging regulators to adapt to evolving dietary trends and market dynamics by updating safety standards and regulations accordingly.
Highlighting the goals of GFRS 2025, Shri Nadda noted that the summit will serve as a vital platform for global regulators to exchange ideas, align standards, enhance risk assessment capabilities, and explore cutting-edge technologies in food safety. The event aims to safeguard consumer health while promoting fair trade, innovation, and sustainable food systems for global benefit. He extended his best wishes to FSSAI for a successful summit.

A key highlight of the summit will be the launch of the Eat Right Thali book, an FSSAI initiative celebrating India’s rich culinary diversity and balanced nutrition. The book features traditional thalis from every state, showcasing local ingredients, cooking methods, and time-honored dietary practices that promote variety and balance. Echoing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision, it positions traditional diets as a means to combat obesity and lifestyle diseases, serving as both a cultural homage and a guide to preventive health through mindful eating rooted in India’s heritage.
GFRS 2025 will host a wide array of activities, including keynote speeches by international organizations and experts, technical and plenary sessions with regulators, interactive discussions with national and global stakeholders, and bilateral and multilateral meetings to tackle current and emerging food safety challenges. The summit will foster knowledge sharing and the development of unified approaches to food safety. Its structure includes eight interconnected plenary sessions and high-level parallel conclaves, focusing on forward-thinking aspects of food safety regulation.
This marks the third consecutive GFRS hosted by FSSAI, cementing India’s role as a global leader in food safety initiatives and regulatory dialogue. Building on the success of previous summits, GFRS 2025 will unite efforts from ministries, international bodies such as WHO, Codex, FAO, and EFSA, as well as national stakeholders and research institutions. This collaboration creates a dynamic ecosystem for innovation, regulatory alignment, and capacity building. With participation from global experts and organizations, GFRS has become a premier international platform where regulators, scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders collaborate to shape safer, more resilient, and inclusive food systems worldwide.
The event was attended by Shri Rajit Punhani, CEO of FSSAI; Shri Uma Shankar Dhyani, Executive Director (HR), FSSAI; Shri Nikhil Gajraj, Joint Secretary, MoHFW; and senior officials from FSSAI and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
