President Droupadi Murmu is on a day-long visit to Gaya, Bihar, today (September 20, 2025), primarily to perform ancestral rituals during the ongoing Pitru Paksha Mela. She arrived at Gaya airport this morning via a special flight and was received by Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Bihar Cooperative Minister Dr. Prem Kumar.

The President performed puja, pind daan (offerings for ancestors), shraddha rituals, and tarpan at the temple, which houses the sacred footprints of Lord Vishnu and is a major site for Hindu ancestral rites on the banks of the Falgu River. This marks a historic participation by a sitting President in such ceremonies
