Canada PR Holder and Ex-Kabaddi Player Arrested by IGI Airport Police in Six-Year-Old Visa Fraud Case

New Delhi, October 3, 2025: The staff of the Police Station IGI Airport have arrested a high-profile fraudster agent, Guramritpal Singh Multani @ Pali (54), a Permanent Resident of Canada, who was wanted in a 2019 case involving the use of fake travel documents.

Multani, who claims to be a former national-level Kabaddi player, was apprehended immediately upon his return to India at the Ahmedabad Airport.

Case Details: Forged Continuous Discharge Certificates (CDCs)

The agent, who resides in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, was wanted in connection with a case registered in 2019.

• Initial Incident: The case was lodged on September 27, 2019, after nine Indian passengers were deported from Ethiopia. The reason for the deportation was the possession of fake Continuous Discharge Certificates (CDCs), which were allegedly issued by the Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Government of Samoa. The Samoan government later confirmed the documents were not authentic.
• Agent’s Role: During the investigation, two of the deported passengers revealed that Guramritpal Singh Multani @ Pali was the agent who had provided them with the fake CDCs.
• Laxity & Lure of Money: Multani, who has been a Permanent Resident of Canada since 1999, admitted to getting into this fraudulent activity for the “greed of quick and easy money”. He charged ₹20 Lakhs from each of the two passengers for the fake CDCs, which he arranged through an associate in Jalandhar. Five other accused persons have already been arrested in this specific case.
• Previous Record: On checking police records, it was found that Multani is involved in a total of seven cases of a similar nature.

Agent’s Background

Guramritpal Singh Multani @ Pali had a unique history prior to his involvement in fraud:

• He was an International Kabaddi player during his college days.
• He claims to have played Kabaddi for Guru Nanak Dev University, Punjab at the India level.
• He moved to Canada with his family in 1995 and was awarded Permanent Residency in 1999.
• While in Canada, he claims to have played for the Hamilton Punjab Sports Club in 1996-97.

Crackdown on Fraudulent Agents

The arrest of Multani, six years after the initial case was registered, is part of a continuing crackdown by the PS IGI Airport staff.

The police emphasized their ongoing efforts by highlighting that a total of 52 persons have been arrested or booked in cases related to fake/forged visas/passports during the month of September 2025 alone.

The team that arrested the agent on September 29, 2025, included Inspector Satish Yadav and Constable Hemant, under the supervision of Inspector Virender Tyagi (SHO/IGI Airport) and the overall supervision of Sh. Pradeep Meena (ACP/IGI Airport).
