BCCI’s 94th AGM: Mithun Manhas Elected New President

Mumbai – September 29, 2025 – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ushered in a new chapter during its 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28, 2025, at the Cricket Centre headquarters, with former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas being elected unopposed as the 37th president. The formality of the elections, continuing a trend of uncontested victories, also saw key retainments and appointments, solidifying the board’s administrative framework amid India’s recent Asia Cup triumph and ongoing domestic reforms.

Manhas, a seasoned first-class cricketer who represented Delhi and played a handful of ODIs for India, succeeds Roger Binny, who stepped down in August 2025 after a two-year tenure marked by the 2023 ODI World Cup hosting and IPL expansions. Arriving at the venue in a crisp white suit, Manhas expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “It’s an honor to lead the world’s premier cricket body. My focus will be on nurturing talent, enhancing infrastructure, and upholding the game’s integrity.” His election aligns with the rotational zonal policy, representing the North Zone.

The key decisions made are as under:

1. The following members were elected as the new Office Bearers of the BCCI:
   1. President: Mr. Mithun Manhas
   2. Vice President: Mr. Rajeev Shukla
   3. Secretary: Mr. Devajit Saikia
   4. Joint Secretary: Mr. Prabhtej Bhatia
   5. Treasurer: Mr. A. Raghuram Bhat
2. One representative of the General Body was elected in the Apex Council of the BCCI:
   1. Mr. Jaydev Shah
3. Two representatives in the Indian Premier League Governing Council were elected:
   1. Mr. Arun Singh Dhumal; and
   2. Mr. M Khairul Jamal Majumdar.
4. The audited accounts for FY 2024-25 were passed and adopted by the General Body.

5. The Annual Budget of FY 2025-26 was approved by the General Body.

6. Men’s Selection Committee was announced. The Selection Committee will have the following members:

1. Mr. Ajit Agarkar (Chairperson);
2. Mr. Shiv Sundar Das;
3. Mr. Ajay Ratra;
4. Mr. R. P. Singh; and
5. Mr. Pragyan Ojha.

Mr. R.P. Singh and Mr. Pragyan Ojha have been newly inducted in the men’s selection committee.

7. Women’s Selection Committee was announced. The Women’s Selection Committee will have the following members:

1. Ms. Amita Sharma (Chairperson);
2. Ms. Shyama Dey;
3. Ms. Sulakshana Naik;
4. Ms. Jaya Sharma; and
5. Ms. Sravanthi Naidu.

Ms. Amita Sharma, Ms. Sulakshana Naik, Ms. Jaya Sharma and Ms. Sravanthi Naidu have been newly inducted in the Women’s Selection Committee.

8. Junior Cricket Committee was announced. The Junior Cricket Committee will have the following members:

1. Mr. S Sharath (Chairperson)
2. Mr. Harvinder Sodhi
3. Mr. Pathik Patel
4. Mr. Krishna Mohan; and
5. Mr. Ranadeb Bose

Mr. S. Sharath has been newly inducted in the Junior Cricket Committee.

9. The WPL committee will have the following members:

1. Mr. Jayesh George; (Chairperson)
2. Mr. Mithun Manhas;
3. Mr. Rajeev Shukla;
4. Mr. Devajit Saikia;
5. Mr. Prabhtej Bhatia;
6. Mr. A Raghuram Bhat;
7. Ms. Madhumati Lele;
8. Mr. Sanjay Tandon;
9. Mr. R. I. Palani; and
10. Mr. Arun Singh Dhumal.
11. The Infrastructure Committee will have the following members:

1. Mr. Rohan Jaitley; (Chairperson)
2. Mr. Mithun Manhas;
3. Mr. Rajeev Shukla;
4. Mr. Devajit Saikia;
5. Mr. Prabhtej Bhatia;
6. Mr. A Raghuram Bhat;
7. Mr. Anirudh Chaudhury; and
8. Mr. Sana Sathish Babu.

Under Manhas, the BCCI aims to expand the Women’s Premier League (WPL) footprint and integrate advanced technology in domestic tournaments, including mandatory DRS in Ranji Trophy knockouts. The board also greenlit hosting bids for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup and reaffirmed commitments to anti-corruption measures.
